This match had so many different subplots and stories going into it that the main angle of the feud wasn’t even the WWE Championship. Kurt Angle and Triple H were in such a deadlocked feud over Stephanie McMahon that at Summerslam, the match began with Angle and The Game going head to head for much of the match before The Rock ever showed up.

Angle and Triple H fought for several minutes and onto the announce table. The obvious angle here was Triple H was to Pedigree Angle through the table and Angle would have to go in the back while The Rock finally came out and Angle would come back later. Unfortunately, the table broke just before the Pedigree, which made the angle, even more, real.

The near falls and stories throughout this match was masterful storytelling between three all-time greats. The Rock would end up with the victory, but all three men looked better after this match.
