The WWE announced this past April that “SmackDown” will move to the USA Network in 2016. WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler hinted that the show may go live. In an interview, according to Wrestling Inc., Lawler said the following:

“There’s going to be a lot of stuff going on on SmackDown, they’re getting ready to make that a really… because it’s coming back on USA. There’s a very good possibility in the near future that ‘SmackDown’ may be live.”

While the network change and shift to live production stand as large changes on their own, it remains unclear if the WWE would make an additional one – moving “SmackDown” from Tuesdays to Thursdays.

It’s widely known that the WWE tapes “SmackDown” on Tuesdays and broadcasts on Thursdays. If the show went live, it stands to reason that the WWE would hold the event on Thursday rather than air “RAW” and “SmackDown” on consecutive nights.
