5. Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho vs. Kurt Angle – Wrestlemania 16
This was such a unique match at the time since it was technically two triple threat matches for two separate championships. Technically speaking, this was claimed as a two-fall triple threat match for both the European Championship and the Intercontinental Championship. The first fall would claim the IC Champion and the second would be the European Championship. The three men fighting for the prizes were Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, and Chris Jericho.
A technical spectacle to be sure between three excellent in-ring workers on the grandest stage of them all. Kurt Angle was the unified champion of both titles going in, so he had everything to lose. The match was a combination of mat wrestling, high flying and a lot of ring psychology.
Benoit would win the first fall by pinning Jericho and Jericho would win the second fall by pinning Benoit. Angle ended up losing both championships without being pinned for either one. Jericho left European Champion, and Chris Benoit left Wrestlemania the Intercontinental Champion.
