At the “Battleground” pay-per-view on Sunday, July 20, four men competed for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship: John Cena, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, and Kane.

In an outcome that shocked very few people, John Cena emerged victorious, retaining his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Cena picked up the win after delivering an “Attitude Adjustment” to Randy Orton. Cena dropped Orton on an already downed opponent in Kane, who Cena then pinned for the victory.

Cena’s win now means that the likely main event for “SummerSlam” will see Cena defend his championship against Brock Lesnar. Speculation was that Cena may drop the title at “Battleground” due to a leaked video of promotional material for the “Summerslam” bout.” The leaked video made no mention of the title being up for grabs. At one point, Roman Reigns was discussed as a potential victor.

Cena will miss “Monday Night Raw” on July 21 due to his involvement in Judd Apatow’s “Trainwreck.” However, Brock Lesnar is reportedly set to appear.

Paul Heyman even teased Plan C’s arrival on Twitter. Plan C is very likely to be Brock Lesnar:
