The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that Cesaro’s big push is on hold “until needed.” As previously reported, Paul Heyman has apparently been removed from Cesaro due to the impending return of Brock Lesnar, and Cesaro is set to remain a heel that’s lying in the weeds taking losses until the company decides it is time to push him into main event status.

Initially, it was being reported that Cesaro was one of the guys the company was going to be billing as a top face come 2015. However, with the split of The Shield, WWE went a different route, pushing Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns as major main event caliber babyface characters instead.

The thought process backstage currently is reportedly one of necessity. WWE will push Cesaro after they are done elevating Reigns into what they believe will essentially be a star so big, he could replace John Cena as the face of the company. With the company focusing on Reigns, Cesaro has been put on the back burner.

Cesaro’s push was to look like Daniel Bryan’s, where the company wanted the organic momentum Cesaro had gained to turn into a “King of Swing” movement, elevating him to the top. Plans were to have him participate in an angle very similar to CM Punk and Lesnar’s from 2013, where Lesnar would return to work with Heyman, and Cesaro would feud with Lesnar, possibly being the first person to defeat him since his “conquering” of The Undertaker and his undefeated streak at WrestleMania.

These plans have apparently been put on hold, just like Cesaro’s momentum. Fans are cooling on the superstar super fast, yet the company isn’t worried. They believe that they can still get him where they want him after they push the likes of Reigns first.

Editor’s Note:
I mean…he could have been HUGE riding the wave of momentum he had coming out of WrestleMania. They totally killed it.
