On the July 14 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Ric Flair made his return to WWE programming. Based on continued reports of WWE wanting to use Flair in as a regular on-screen character, some thought it would begin Flair appearing on WWE programming more often. However, according to PWInsider, that may not be the case.

For one, the website notes that Flair was pulled from “Smackdown” tapings on July 15, after previously being advertised for them. The show was reportedly re-written early Tuesday morning, and Flair was not chosen to be brought in for the show.

The website reports that original plans for Flair called for him to be utilized on a weekly basis, but for now, those plans may have changed. Flair did in fact sign a new deal with WWE, and is expected to appear on WWE programming “semi-regularly” heading to “SummerSlam.”

Part of the reason behind Flair possibly not being utilized week in and week out may be due to where he fits in with the current WWE product. During the July 14 “Raw,” Flair appeared before the main event, simply predicting that John Cena will remain WWE World Heavyweight Champion at “Battleground.” Upon his exit to the back, Cena handed Flair the World Heavyweight Championship, telling him to keep it.

Editor’s Note

It’d be nice to see Flair on WWE programming weekly, but it’s all about finding a good fit for him in regards to the product.
