6. NXT Star Debuts to Take Out Cena

John Cena knee injury

A John Cena injury angle is the popular one that involves writing Cena off television. The rumors don’t signify that this is the usual for Cena, but WWE television doesn’t need to represent that. If John Cena is “injured” at some point next week to either drop, or force him to vacate the US title, than Cena instantly has a target when he returns from his hiatus.

Ideally, this would be the way to put over someone new. There are several talents in NXT just waiting to be brought up to the main roster. For example, Samoa Joe wrestles a very physical style that is focused on a lot of submissions. On the main roster, Joe would be massively over if he made a surprise debut, took the US title from Cena in a clean fight, but then attacked Cena and put him on the shelf. By the time Cena gets back in December, it’s open season and John Cena is hunting Joe, or whoever attacked him.
