WWE Considering Changing Lars Sullivan’s Name

Who are you again? One of the most important parts to any wrestler is his name. You don’t want to have someone who has some ridiculous name which makes them seem out of place or like someone you aren’t going to be able to take seriously. That has been a problem for WWE in the last several years and now we might be seeing an adjustment in the near future.

One of the bigger surprises over the last few weeks in WWE has been the return of Lars Sullivan. After over a year away from the ring due to a knee injury, Sullivan returned to the SmackDown brand and destroyed various people to show that he is still a monster. There is more to it than just a presence though and now Sullivan might be undergoing a pretty big change of pace.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE may be considering changing Sullivan’s name to just “The Freak”, which he has used as a nickname since his WWE debut. This comes after commentary used The Freak more often than Sullivan, which is WWE tends to do when they are changing a name. There is no word on when WWE might officially make such a change.

Opinion: I’m not sure what this is going to mean for Sullivan, though these name changes rarely make things that much better. We know who Sullivan is and what he has been called for a long time now, so just switching his name to his nickname doesn’t change much. Then again, WWE has a really big obsession with things like this so I doubt they care all that much about how much sense it makes.
