I’d call that a big one. We are closing in on the 2020 Royal Rumble and that means things are starting to heat up on the Road To WrestleMania. The Royal Rumble is the first major stop but also a huge event in its own right. The show’s namesake match features a bunch of stars, some of which may be big surprises. It turns out that someone may be making a return in the special match.

There have been some great moments in the Royal Rumble over the years. Some of these have included a variety of returns, showdowns and comedy spots. The returns are often the best though as you never know who might be coming down that aisle. It creates the best drama in all of the Royal Rumble and there is a chance that we may be in for one that we never thought possible.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, there is a backstage belief in WWE that Edge may return to the ring in the 2020 Royal Rumble. Edge reportedly signed a new WWE contract earlier in the year and that he was in Pittsburgh to meet with WWE Wellness Policy chief Dr. Joseph Maroon. Edge has denied that he is getting back in the ring, though there is still a thought that he will get back in the ring. Should he return, it would be nearly eight years after his retirement in 2011 after a neck injury.

He was a big surprise once. Check out Edge’s return at the 2010 Royal Rumble:

Opinion: I’m not sure if I believe this is going to happen or not, but I’ve grown to go with the mindset of “never say never”. I wouldn’t have believed that Daniel Bryan would wrestle again and that happened. Maybe this is just a story with nothing to it, but maybe Edge’s neck has cleared up enough to be able to work a protected match. I’m sure WWE wouldn’t mind having him back, though I’ll believe it when I see it.
