8. Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H (Steel Cage Match, 05-19-13)

After splitting their first two matches at “WWE SummerSlam” and WrestleMania 29, Paul Heyman requested that Triple H accept the challenge of his client Brock Lesnar to break the tie and settle the score inside a steel cage.

The WWE COO had things well in hand after working over Lesnar’s leg, but constant interference on the part of Heyman gave the former MMA star new life. Heyman delivered a low blow to Triple H as Lesnar picked up a sledgehammer and socked him right in the jaw. An F-5 finished him off for good, giving “The Beast Incarnate” the victory in the rubber match.

Of their three clashes, this was arguably their best. Lock two titans in a steel structure and you’re bound to end up with some classic physical warfare. That’s exactly what fans got on this night.

7. World Heavyweight Championship: Alberto Del Rio vs. Christian (Ladder Match, 05-01-11)

The World Heavyweight Championship was vacated once current WWE Hall of Famer Edge (the former champion) was forced to retire after being diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis stemming from his neck. Christian earned the right to face Alberto Del Rio (the No. 1 contender) for the strap after winning a 20-man battle royal on an episode of “Friday Night SmackDown.”

Del Rio was mere seconds away from pulling down the belt, but an appearance by Edge in a Jeep caused enough of a distraction for Christian to rise from the ashes, knock his adversary off the ladder and become World Champion for the first time in his illustrious career.

The emotional moment of Christian sitting atop the ladder, shedding tears of joy and hoisting his newly-won possession in the air adds to the significance of the match, but that shouldn’t deflect from the solid in-ring work of two competitors who delivered on all fronts.

6. Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk (Hair Match, 04-25-10)

Leading up to “WWE Extreme Rules 2010,” Rey Mysterio questioned why CM Punk didn’t have his head shaved like his fellow Straight Edge Society members, Luke Gallows and Serena. The stipulation was eventually added that if Mysterio defeated Punk, the leader of the notorious faction would have to sacrifice his hair the way his followers had.

Gallows and Serena were sent to the back for interfering, but a third Society member (later revealed to be Joey Mercury) appeared, attacking Mysterio and leaving him vulnerable for a Go To Sleep finisher at the hands of Punk.

This match was given more than twice as much time as their one-on-one bout at WrestleMania 26. The chemistry between the two stars was undeniable, with fun spots and great ring psychology sprinkled throughout.
