On October 7, 2004, Smackdown was in Boston. John Cena was the hometown boy and had just become the undisputed WWE United States Champion. Mr. Cool Carlito had vignettes for weeks. His debut was looming over Smackdown just waiting for him to make his debut.

That night in Boston, Carlito debuted and challenged Cena for his United States Championship. Cena accepted. During the match, Carlito would manage to use Cena’s chain against him, knock him out for the pin and win the US title to the shock of the WWE Universe. This turned out to be the biggest victory of Carlito’s career, and on his first night no less.
