Two for the road. The wrestling world is still trying to get its head around the death of Jon Huber, better known as Brodie Lee in AEW and Luke Harper in WWE, who passed away last Saturday at the age of 41. His death came out of nowhere and took everyone by surprise, leaving a lot of people grieving in a variety of ways. There are different ways to deal with those emotions and WWE is trying something of its own.
This week’s Monday Night Raw featured an opening graphic to Huber, but that was about it as far as anything official went. The wrestlers and commentary team did pay various tributes to him throughout the night though, with wrestlers using his moves and various people using his catchphrases. There was something missing though, and now WWE has fixed the problem.
They did a nice job. Check out WWE’s tribute to Huber:
WWE has released a tribute video to Huber, looking at his greatest moments in the company. The video also includes wrestlers speaking about Huber, including what he meant to them and how much they will miss him. These clips were filmed on Monday before Monday Night Raw and released on Thursday. WWE aired the In Memory Of graphic before each of their television shows this week.
Opinion: This is what a lot of people wanted and it is understandable that it took a little extra time. Huber passed away late Saturday, which was the day after Christmas. A video like this is going to take some time to get ready and having it set up and finished in less than forty eight hours is a bit much to ask. This was as good as could realistically be expected, as well as being a rather nice tribute of its own.
