It’s #1. We are wrapping up the year and that means a few things. In addition to finally being done with everything, it is time to look back at what has come and gone during the year, some of which has been some rather great stuff. There are enough moments to have a nice retrospective, but something has to be at the top of the list. Impact Wrestling has found something great to go on top of theirs.

Impact Wrestling is one of the few promotions to keep running throughout the year, in spite of the Coronavirus pandemic. The company has held its weekly show all year long and even had some pay per views mixed in. Couple that with a few monthly specials and it is easy to see how they have a nice set of matches to pick from. Now we know what they have at the top of their list.

This week Impact Wrestling presented the second half of their Best Of 2020 special. The show featured the reveal of the company’s Match of the Year, which was chosen via fan vote. The award went to the Slammiversary main event for the vacant World Title, with Eddie Edwards defeating Eric Young, Rich Swann, Ace Austin and Trey. Edwards thanked the fans for voting for him in a post match video.

Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise but it’s a good choice. The build to Slammiversary with fans wondering who was going to be the big surprise entrant was some of the best stuff that Impact Wrestling presented all year and it is a great choice for the best match of the year. Edwards becoming World Champion again was a good moment and it came after a pretty great match. What more can you want?
