New Record Set At NXT Takeover: In Your House

They’re made to be broken. WWE has been around for a long time and that means there are going to be a lot of statistics and records to go around. Those are the kind of things that can be fascinating to read up on as there is no shortage of different ways to look at who has done what and put numbers with it. The same is the case in NXT, and one big record has been broken.

NXT’s Takeover series has become one of the most well received collections of shows in a few generations. The series has had one classic show after another and there is no indication that they will be slowing down anytime soon. Getting a spot on the shows is a great sign for your current status, though one wrestler has managed to do something at Takeover that no one has ever accomplished.

Sunday night at NXT Takeover: In Your House, Finn Balor defeated Damian Priest in a singles match. The win gave Priest his eleventh victory all time at Takeover, giving him the most in the history of the series. Balor wrestled in NXT from 2014 – 2016, returning in 2019 and wrestling until present day. These eleven wins also include one at NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool in January 2019.

Opinion: NXT has quietly turned Balor into the ace of Takeover with his 11-1 record at the event over the years. Losing a single match to Samoa Joe inside of a cage is nothing to sneeze at and it is no wonder that Balor is such a big deal in NXT. Balor is the biggest star the promotion has and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him back in the NXT Title picture sooner rather than later.
