History has been made. Titles are a tricky situation. If they are not handled right, the entire division might suffer as a result. You need to have enough challengers in the division to make the titles seem valuable while also putting someone above the rest of them as champions. That’s a simplified version, but a lot of problems can come along with any new title. WWE had issues with one title, but they might be making things better.

Back in February 2019, WWE brought back the Women’s Tag Team Titles for the first time in about thirty years. The titles got off to a hot start in the Elimination Chamber, but it soon became clear that there wasn’t much aside from an initial big match. They were rarely defended and didn’t seem all that important overall. Things have gotten a bit better though, and now things have changed again.

This week on SmackDown, Bayley and Sasha Banks defeated Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross to win the titles for a second time. Bayley and Banks were the inaugural champions and the win makes Bayley a double champion as she also holds the SmackDown Women’s Title. As a result of the title change. Banks and Bayley will now be allowed to appear on both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown.

It was a big night. Check out how the match went down:

Opinion: The titles are still a long way from where they need to be, but this is indeed a little bit better. I’m not sure if they need to exist, but they could be used to further the eventual Banks vs. Bayley feud, which is more than they have been used for in recent months. Just having people fight over them will help though, assuming they stay at it for more than a few weeks at a time.
