It can happen to anyone. Back in August, Roman Reigns won the Universal Championship and instantly became the biggest star on SmackDown, if not in all of WWE. Reigns has been a complete monster ever since and almost no one has been able to give him a real challenge. Some have been trying, but now one of them has found out what happens when you mess with Reigns.
One of the major challengers to Reigns has been Kevin Owens, who unsuccessfully challenged for the title at both Tables Ladders And Chairs as well as on the Christmas edition of SmackDown. Owens has stayed after Reigns and refuses to stay down, but after what happened this week on SmackDown, that might be a bit more difficult to keep going in the future.
WWE.com has announced that Owens has suffered a spinal cord contusion and bruised kidneys thanks to an attack at the hands of Reigns and Jey Uso during this week’s SmackDown. Owens beat Uso in the main event but was attacked by Reigns and Uso after. Reigns threw Owens out of the stands and through a table to end the show. There is no word on if Owens will miss any ring time.
That was a heck of a crash. Check out how SmackDown ended:
Opinion: This still sounds like a way to set up either an I Quit match or a Last Man Standing match at the Royal Rumble. That would be a heck of a way to wrap up a very entertaining feud and Owens has all of the tools necessary to make it work. That being said, there are a few other ways to go to get there and I’m curious to see how the story unfolds from here.
