Things can change so fast. With less than a month to go before WrestleMania 35, it’s the time of year when WWE suddenly finds a burst of energy it doesn’t know how to have the rest of the year. In this case, it can mean a bunch of storyline changes ranging from turns to big stories to title changes. One of those things took place this week on Monday Night Raw.
Earlier tonight, Bobby Lashley defeated Finn Balor to regain the Intercontinental Title. Lashley won the title with an assist from Lio Rush, who rang the ring bell to distract Balor, who jumped into a spear from Lashley for the pin and the title. Balor had won the title from Lashley and Lio Rush in a handicap match last month at Elimination Chamber. This is Lashley’s second reign with the title.
Picture a newer version of this. Check out one of their several matches:
Opinion: Well that came out of nowhere. Balor just won the title three weeks ago and now he’s losing it back? I’d assume he wins it for good at WrestleMania, though it does beg the question of why even change it in the first place. These month or so long reigns don’t mean much and just make the title seem like it’s flying all over the place more often than not. The match was fine, but not exactly an epic struggle.
