That’s the logical progression. Last weekend, WWE presented Tables, Ladders And Chairs as their final pay per view of the year. There were several different matches on the card but this year’s edition did not feature the tables match, ladder match and chairs match, all of which have become staples of the show. One match seemed to be perfectly set up, but now we know why it did not take place.

On the way to the pay per view, one of the longer running stories on Monday Night Raw was that of Nia Jax tormenting Lana. After nine weeks in a row of Jax putting Lana through a table, a tables match between the two seemed likely. Then Lana defeated Jax in a singles match but was attacked by both Jax and Shayna Baszler after the match, putting Lana on the shelf. Instead, Lana’s friend Asuka challenged Jax and Baszler for the Women’s Tag Team Titles with the returning Charlotte as her partner. So what happened?

According to Fightful Select, the plans for Lana vs. Jax were scrapped in favor of Charlotte receiving the Tag Team Title shot as soon as Charlotte was scheduled to return. Charlotte’s return was not expected when the Lana and Jax story began, leaving several people in WWE surprised by the changes. There is no word on what Lana will be doing when she returns to television.

Opinion: I’m not sure what to think of something like this as Lana vs. Jax was hardly enthralling television and Lana did beat her in the end, but it was clear that Charlotte was what mattered most in this whole situation. Now that being said, Charlotte is a far bigger name than Lana and deserves the spot more, though it was a little annoying having everything dropped as soon as she was available.
