There she is. The Royal Rumble is in less than three days and that means it is time to start getting things ready for one of the biggest nights of the year. This includes a pair of the show’s namesake matches as again there will be both a men’s and women’s Royal Rumble match. As a result, there will be sixty spots needing to be filled and that likely means some new names. Now we know one of the bigger ones.

The NXT women’s division has been a strong point throughout the promotion’s history. NXT’s focus on women’s wrestling preceded and even helped launch the WWE Women’s Revolution. The push has continued since then and that is the kind of thing that can make for some great moments. We are likely to be in for such a moment at this weekend’s Royal Rumble.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, former NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley will likely be debuting in the women’s Royal Rumble. Ripley is currently part of the WWE main roster and it would make sense to have her debut in the Royal Rumble and then win the match. There is no guarantee that Ripley will be participating in the match. Ripley has wrestled on the main roster before, including losing the NXT Women’s Title to Charlotte at WrestleMania 36.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that would indeed make sense, but at the same time, I could see WWE holding off on her debut for a special television show. That was the case with Samoa Joe a few years back and it would make sense to have her show up elsewhere as well. However, I think she will be there in the Royal Rumble itself and it would be a better fit than anything else.
