Two in a week. There are so many wrestlers in the WWE today that there are only so many ways to do something with them. At the end of the day you are only going to be able to come up with a handful of ideas that are going to be overly effective. This week’s NXT saw a rather surprising angle, though we then saw it again on SmackDown. However, the SmackDown version was a little bit different.

This week on NXT, Austin Theory quit the company. The move came after several weeks of losses, including two in a row on the same night to Bronson Reed. After quitting, Theory drove away from the arena in his car and it is not clear what will be next for him. Something similar happened to another wrestler this week on SmackDown, but the follow up was different.

Shorty G. was defeated by Lars Sullivan during this week’s SmackDown in a match that did not last three minutes. After it was over, Shorty G. said that he quit as well. Later in the night, Shorty G. said that he was quitting being the underdog who accepted what he was. Instead, he was going to be Chad Gable again, as he felt that he could have more success under his original name.

It’s a touchy subject. Check out what sent Gable over the edge:

Opinion: I would say that it’s long overdue but it was overdue the second it took place. There was no reason to think that Shorty G. was going to be a success for Gable, who is an Olympic wrestler and someone who has shown that he can handle himself on a microphone. Why WWE decided to turn him into a short joke is beyond me and it might be too late to fix things, but maybe this is the change that Gable has been needing.

How much will this help? What is next for Gable? Let us know in the comments below.
