While tradition and expectation would suggest that Vince McMahon probably isn’t a big fan of the lightweight competitors in the Cruiserweight division, it seems the man himself sees big things for 205 Live’s future.

Speaking to investors in a recent financial earnings call, Vince said that they have plans the show–and the division as a whole–to open up new revenue streams through merchandising and live events.

That “live events” phrasing is interesting, as it seems to imply that 205 Live may be doing its own touring in the near future. No announcement to that effect has been made, and we haven’t even heard rumors about it, so take that idea with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, the door is open.

While the Cruiserweight Division hasn’t been setting the main roster on fire, the success of Neville as a top heel and excellent performances like this week’s fatal five-way match ensure that there’s still room for the division to grow and benefit WWE as a whole.

The company’s hardly given up on the Cruiserweights, and it sounds like even Vince himself is counting on big things from them in the future. We’re looking forward to seeing what they can do.

The earnings call also revealed another recent development Mr. McMahon is especially proud of.
