Have we just witnessed the true beginning of the “Divas Revolution?”

By virtue of winning the “Beat The Clock” challenge that occurred during the Aug. 31 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Charlotte has been named the new No. 1 contender for the WWE Divas Championship and will face Nikki Bella at “Night of Champions” live from Houston, Texas on Sept. 20.

As previously reported, WWE announced that all members of Team PCB would compete in a “Beat The Clock” challenge live on “Raw” to determine the new No. 1 contender. Team PCB won this opportunity by winning the Divas Revolution Elimination Tag Team Match at “SummerSlam.”

The first match saw Becky Lynch compete against Alicia Fox. Lynch gained a submission victory in three minutes and 21 seconds after she reversed a roll up pin attempt by Fox into the “Disarmer.”

Charlotte then took on Brie Bella, having to beat Lynch’s time in order to move on. Charlotte earned the pinfall victory rather convincingly, defeating Brie with “Natural Selection” in one minute 40 seconds.

Finally, Paige took on former NXT Divas Champion Sasha Banks, having to beat Charlotte’s time. Both women quickly tried gaining pinfalls, until Paige hit the “Rampage” on Banks with about 20 seconds remaining. Before Paige could gain the victory, Naomi and Tamina pulled Banks out of the ring, causing the clock to expire.

Editor’s Note:

This was a very unique way to name a new No.1 contender for the Divas title, and I enjoyed the matches we saw tonight. I fully expect Nikki Bella to drop the championship to Charlotte at “Night of Champions,” and take some time off to recover from some lingering injuries. The only true reason I believe she held the Divas title for as long as she has was to break AJ Lee’s all-time record. Since that will happen in 14 days, I think we will start seeing a lot more women’s singles matches on WWE programming that would help legitimize the Divas Championship.
