Multiple sources are claiming that former WWE and ECW Champion Rob Van Dam may face Alberto Del Rio at SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight Championship. This match has yet to be confirmed, but rumor has the bout being a very big possibility.

Vince McMahon is said to be very high on RVD and his performance since his return at WWE Money In The Bank. The entire roster and crew of WWE officials that were backstage during the July 17th episode of RAW cheered Chris Jericho and Van Dam for their match up on the program, leading to discussions of possibly pushing Van Dam towards the World Heavyweight Title picture.

WWE Creative is still rumored to be “up-in-the-air” about who to put Del Rio up against at the company’s annual August PPV event. With Dolph Ziggler being moved into a program against Big E. Langston, Creative may run with “The Whole F’n Show” in the World Title picture for now. Del Rio vs Van Dam is already being advertised for this week’s Smackdown taping, which could be the catalyst to a program between the two.
