XFL Names New President & COO, Negotiating Major TV Deals

Some major pieces are starting to fall into place. The XFL has named its new President and COO for their re-launch in 2020. According to an official press release, Jeffrey Pollack will fill the role, after coming to the league from the Los Angeles Chargers. He served as Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer and Special Advisor for the organization.

Vince McMahon made the following comments regarding the hire:

“Just as Oliver Luck is perfectly suited to be Commissioner & CEO, so too is Jeffrey Pollack suited perfectly to be XFL President & COO with his extraordinary experience and diverse background across a variety of global sports properties,” said Vince McMahon, XFL Founder & Chairman. “I have no doubt that Oliver and Jeffrey will successfully reimagine the game of football and guide the XFL to long-term success.”

“It’s not often that a new professional sports league is positioned for success like the XFL,” said Pollack. “There’s a clear vision for what we will offer our fans, players and partners, and I look forward to working closely with Vince and Oliver to bring that vision to life.”

However, that is not the only big thing that is going on with the league.

According to a report from Wrestling Inc., via Sports Business Daily, and Awful Announcing, the XFL is negotiating television deals with both FOX and ESPN. This deal would see games air on ABC, Fox, ESPN and FS1, but do not involve the XFL airing on ESPN’s streaming service, ESPN+, at this moment.

If they can land a major television deal, this will be a huge boost for them. Everyone knows that it’s all about TV these days, and anything that they can do to make their product mainstream, will be beneficial to everyone.
