She certainly matters. We’re approaching WrestleMania 35 season and that means a lot of stuff needs to be done. One of these things is looking forward to the announcements for this year’s Hall of Fame class, which could cover a lot of ground (including a certain legend). The group inducted will include a lot of wrestlers, but sometimes a celebrity makes it in there as well. This year might see an important celebrity from wrestling history.

According to Joe Peisich of the Barnburner No Holds Barred podcast, Cyndi Lauper is in the running for this year’s celebrity inductee. Lauper played a very important role in the first WrestleMania, feuding with Roddy Piper leading up to the show and getting help from Hulk hogan to take care of him. She also managed Wendi Richter during her Women’s Title match at the first WrestleMania.

This one was kind of a big deal. Check out Lauper at WrestleMania 1 in 1985:

WWE Hall of Fame: Wendi Richter defeats Leilani Kai to win

Opinion: Lauper is certainly someone who should have been inducted years ago as she was a major part of why the Rock N Wrestling Connection took off in the first place. I know she’s not really associated with wrestling any longer, save for a cameo a few years back on Monday Night Raw, but her time with the company in the mid 1980s is something that should certainly be recognized as it played a big role in WWE going mainstream.

Do you like Lauper being inducted? Who else should be part of this year’s class? Let us know in the comments below.
