Former WWE Champion CM Punk (Phil Brooks) will be taking his talents to the Ultimate Fighting Championship after signing a multi-fight deal with the company.

The announcement was made at the UFC 181 pay-per-view on Dec. 6.

With the news now official, WWE and WWE.com have decided to wish Punk the best on his new journey in MMA.

Punk’s debut fight will take place at some point in 2015, although an exact date has yet to be confirmed.

He revealed more details on why he’s decided to take the plunge into MMA, as well as what other fighters think of him debuting with the company, in an interview with Ariel Helwani after the show.

Former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee, Brooks’ wife, was in attendance to show her support.

Editor’s Note

Talk about saving face. I’m rather shocked WWE even acknowledged this. I figured they’d just ignore it and move on like it was never a thing.
