Cesaro Talks Being the Best, Wrestling Sacrifices, WWE's Future

Former WWE United States Champion Cesaro chatted with The State to promote WWE’s upcoming shows in South Carolina. During the conversation, he hit on several topics regarding wrestling and his career. Below are a few of the highlights from the piece.

Cesaro spoke on how he is often applauded as one of the best technical wrestlers in the world:

“There are a lot of guys with that aspiration,” Cesaro said, “but very few that actually make it. A lot of people say they will do anything, but don’t carry through with the necessary things to achieve that.

With being the best, he says there comes a great degree of sacrifice:

“I haven’t seen my family for more than a couple of hours at a time in 10 years. That’s just an example of the type of sacrifice you have to be willing to make if you want to be the best and that’s what I am. You just have to keep your mouth shut, work hard, and if you ever get to this level, then you can start talking.”

But having the guts to make the move to the U.S. from Switzerland leaves him proud:

“That’s why I have a chip on my shoulder,” Cesaro said. “That’s why I talk the way I do and say the stuff that I say. I feel like I’ve earned the right to do so.”

He also spoke briefly on WWE’s big future:

“The future is very bright,” Cesaro said. “I think the current crop of young guys can help bring the WWE to a new era. I think it’s a very exciting time for the WWE fans.”
