During the final WWE Smackdown tapings for the SyFy network, it was announced that John Cena will return to Smackdown on next week’s episode and the first episode on the USA Network.

The show will also feature new lead announcer Mauro Ranallo’s debut with WWE. There is a lot of speculation of how WWE’s Smackdown will change after it moves to USA next week.

John Cena’s involvement could be a sign of things to come, but it seems WWE is going to build up the show slowly over time before they just make it a norm of weekly WWE content.

In the heyday of Smackdown, it was just as important as Raw is War. Monday Night Raw will always be the flagship show of WWE as it should be, but Smackdown should be a consistent part of WWE programming that moves the feuds and stories forward instead of being a B show that is out of the loop.

John Cena is a step in a right direction, and it’ll make Smackdown feel important. It’s essentially a guarantee at this point that he’ll lead off the opening segment. The feud between him and United States Champion Alberto Del Rio will most likely continue. It isn’t a bad idea to save the US title change for Smackdown next week.
