During last night’s Smackdown tapings, there was a triple threat No. 1 Contenders match for Kevin Owens’ Intercontinental Championship between Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, and Tyler Breeze. As expected, Ambrose went on to win the match and will get his chance at Owens’ IC Championship at “TLC” next month.

This match shouldn’t come as much of a shock. WWE was already building to Ambrose vs. Owens at “Survivor Series” before both men focused their attention on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament.

In that tournament, Ambrose defeated Owens to move onto the finals against Roman Reigns. Although, Dean lost that match to Reigns, he;s still targeting championship gold and picking up right where he left off before the tournament took priority over becoming the Intercontinental Championship.

Kevin Owens had a very good run in the tournament. However, since Ambrose already defeated him this week, it’s peculiar that WWE would book the two to battle for the IC title after they’ve already fought for a prize.

It’s as if WWE hit the pause button on many of their feuds until after “Survivor Series”. It seems Ambrose vs. Owens was always the plan, so now we’ll get to see these two build a feud together. Both men are excellent in the ring, on the microphone, and have a great face vs. heel dynamic. This feud should be highly entertaining.
