After being defeated by AJ Styles at “Summerslam” last month, John Cena left his armband that read “Never Give Up” on it in the ring as he left the arena in defeat.

Cena then missed the next few weeks of WWE programming while AJ Styles became the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and wore Cena’s armband as a trophy every step of the way.

During Cena’s return on SmackDown earlier this week, he confronted Styles and earned a spot in the triple threat match for the WWE Championship against AJ and Dean Ambrose at “No Mercy”

However, the armband was more or less cast aside by Cena and Styles with the former kicking it out of the ring himself. A lot of people are wondering what the significance of the armband was if it was tossed away.

According to a report from WrestlingInc.com, Cena revealed that taking off the armband was important, had a lot of significance and symbolism that could be revealed over the next few weeks.

That was a clear indication that John Cena would be back on WWE television as we know, but there are apparently more details coming about the armband as Cena vs. Ambrose vs. Styles moves forward.

What do you think was the significance of Cena leaving the armband?
