Kalisto Has Been Out of Action Due to Back Injury

This year has been frustrating for Kalisto. He started off the year red hot with momentum, then became the United States Champion twice, but the title reign’s expectations weren’t met.

Unfortunately, Kalisto has been treading water ever since and The Lucha Dragons were disbanded by the WWE Draft and brand extension. However, he’s been absent from SmackDown mostly since then.

The last time he was featured on SmackDown was during the August 2nd edition when he took part in the No. 1 Contender match for the Intercontinental Championship against Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews.

The plan seemed to be Corbin vs. Kalisto on SmackDown, but not much developed in their feud despite a few beatdowns from The Lone Wolf.

According to a report from RingSideNews.com, the reason why Kalisto hasn’t been featured on WWE television is because he is suffering from a back injury.

Baron Corbin has been put on hold since his injury forced him to take some time off. However, there is no reported timetable for his return to the ring. The assumption is it will be sooner rather than later, but the back injury seems to be nagging him and is enough to keep him off television.
