I‘ve been complaining about NXT’s women’s division recently because there is a huge gap between Asuka and the rest of the roster. Originally, I thought bringing in Mickie James was a temporary band-aid instead of fixing the problem and building the roster.

However, now I realize how intelligent the rebuilding of NXT’s women’s division is going heading into 2017. Right now, NXT is focused on tag team wrestling, and it’s a great thing, which makes the future of tag team wrestling very bright in WWE.

The thing that occurred to me is that with tag team wrestling going strong in NXT, it’s not that important for the women’s division to be amazing right now. However, if you look and see what NXT officials are doing, it most certainly will be in a few months.

Ember Moon, Billie Kay, and Peyton Royce are all getting exposure right now. In Sanity, Nikki Cross is developing into the most brutal wrestler in the division. WWE just signed Crazy Mary Dobson to a deal and the announced women’s tournament is coming soon.

There is a ton of potential surrounding NXT’s women right now and the powers that be are just waiting until the right time for all these elements mix into something cool. I thought the golden age of women’s wrestling in NXT was over. It’s not. It’s ahead of us.
