The more things change. With so many wrestlers who have walked through WWE’s doors over the years, there are always going to be some who are more highly revered than others. WWE certainly knows how to offer praises to its legendary stars and that will be on display during this week’s Legends Raw. One name is included on the list of legends and it offers an interesting note about a change that took place under the radar.
The WWE women’s division has come a long way in recent years and things have changed in a lot of good ways. So many of these changes took place because of a path that was laid before them by the previous generations. Part of that generation is still around even today, though one of those wrestlers might not be around much longer, as her current status seems to have changed.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mickie James has been retired as she is now listed as one of the legends for the special edition of Monday Night Raw. James has not wrestled since the September 21 Monday Night Raw and was not drafted in October’s WWE Draft. There is no word on if she will be moving into another role in WWE or possibly leaving to wrestle somewhere else.
Opinion: I’m hoping that this is not the case as James is still someone who could offer quite a bit in the ring for WWE. She is still rather good in the ring and the kind of veteran presence who can help a lot of the younger wrestlers around. Maybe that is in the ring or as a trainer somewhere, but I would hope that WWE keeps her around in one way or another.
