It took long enough. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the way the wrestling world works and that is going to be the case for a long time to come. There is very little that feels normal these days and that is not likely to get much better in the near future. It has been about four months since WWE has held a live event including fans, and that is going to be the case for another of their biggest events of the year.

Earlier this year, WWE presented WrestleMania 36 at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida in front of no fans. It was the most unique show in the history of WrestleMania and it is not likely to ever be topped. The matches mostly went forward as planned and there was some quality action, but the lack of fans did certainly change things up. WWE will need to be getting used to it.

According to WCVB.com (ABC affiliate in Boston, Massachusetts), WWE has confirmed that Summerslam will not be taking place in the city, citing the Coronavirus issues. The show will still be taking place on August 23 as scheduled, though an official location has yet to be announced. WWE will also be running an NXT Takeover event on the same weekend, though its location has yet to be announced.

Summerslam has its own history. Check out some of its best moments:

Opinion: Is anyone really surprised at this? There was little reason to believe that Summerslam was going to take place in Boston and now any concerns that there were are laid to rest. Just have the show in Orlando and move on from there. Maybe things can get better in the near future, but for now, there is no reason to take a big risk that doesn’t need to be there.

What are you expecting from the show? When will fans be allowed in person? Let us know in the comments below.
