Looks like he’s next. Earlier this month, Roman Reigns celebrated two years as Universal Champion. That is a mark that has not been reached in over thirty years and stands as one of the greatest championship runs in WWE history. It also presents a problem as there are only so many people who can be seen as a viable threat to the title. Now another name might be throwing his hat back in the ring.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Kevin Owens mentioned reigns during a promo, before mentioning Reigns more directly on Raw Talk. During the second show, Owens said that he was coming for Reigns, who he feels owes him after their previous feud. No match or challenge was officially made. Reigns is currently not scheduled for his next Undisputed WWE Universal Title defense until either Crown Jewel or Survivor Series and will not be wrestling at Extreme Rules on October 8.
He sounds serious. Check out Owens on Raw Talk:
Opinion: At this point, who else is there? Reigns has cleaned out the main event scene more than once and there are not many other options for him to face. Owens being the next guy almost two years later is not a bad idea and the recharged Owens could make for an even better challenger this time around. It is an interesting idea and I’m curious about how WWE could make it work.
