That sounds counterproductive. There are a lot of wrestlers in WWE and as a result, there are always going to be some people that fans want to see pushed more than others. That can become an issue when the push doesn’t happen and the fans are often going to ask why that is the case. Now we might know why one wrestler was not pushed and it is not the best reason.
Whether you like him or not, there is little denying that Dolph Ziggler is one of the most athletically gifted wrestlers in WWE today. He has been around for a very long time now and has quite a few accomplishments under his belt. At the same time though, Ziggler has never been the top guy in the company or even really close to it. It turns out that the lack of success might be over a joke.
During a recent episode of his Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho mentioned that Vince McMahon may have held back on pushing Ziggler as a rib on Pat Patterson. Jericho said that Patterson was often advocating for Ziggler to receive a bigger push and McMahon refused to push him to mess with Patterson. Ziggler is currently on SmackDown, where he is part of a tag team with Robert Roode.
Ziggler is quite the talent in his own right. Check out what Patterson saw in him:
Opinion: This sounds completely ridiculous and that makes me think it is extremely likely. McMahon is certainly known for his bizarre sense of humor and if a joke just happens to get in the way him making money, so be it. I’m not the biggest Ziggler fan in the world, but there have been times where he could have been an interesting choice for a push. If this is why it never happened, that’s rather telling for McMahon and WWE as a whole.
Do you think this is accurate? Will Ziggler ever be World Champion again? Let us know in the comments below.
