Here she comes to save the day. Last year at WrestleMania 35, Becky Lynch changed the wrestling world by winning the first ever women’s main event in WrestleMania history. The match was a huge change for women’s wrestling and made it seem like things were moving in a new direction. Lynch has yet to lose the title and that means she needs someone new to come after the title.
Last year at Survivor Series, Lynch was one of the women’s champions involved in the show’s main event. The match also included SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler, with the latter winning the match. After the match ended, Lynch attacked Baszler to end the show. That seemed to be setting something up and that’s where we’re going.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Lynch retained the title against Asuka but was attacked by Baszler after the match was over. Baszler jumped Lynch from behind and choked her out before biting Lynch’s neck, drawing blood. Lynch drove herself to the hospital but came back to the arena later and called Baszler out. There was no match announced or mentioned during the show.
It was a heck of a moment. Check out Baszler taking a bite out of Lynch:
Opinion: That’s how you set things up for a major WrestleMania match. Baszler came in and instantly made an impact, which is the way you make people interested. There is only so much that you can do to get the interest up and this was an effective way to do so. I’m hoping that we get to see a heck of a fight at WrestleMania, because Lynch certainly needs the challenge.
