When worlds might actually collide? Right now, there is nothing outside of WWE that approaches the level of Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks. The three have managed to form their own major following outside of WWE and are some of the top stars in the world as a result. That being said, there’s a different kind of wrestling fame that comes with being underneath the WWE banner. While there are currently rumors of the trio being pursued by WWE, there may be a chance to have them appear for WWE without signing up.

The Sun recently interviewed WWE COO Triple H on the possibility of a cross promoted show between WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Triple H seemed open to the idea, with the following to say:

“We are open to doing things with anybody or anything. We have an alliance with PROGRESS in the UK, a situation with ICW in Scotland, two very well run and respected promotions that do good business – but more importantly they are cultivating talent. They are not just exploiting talent and grabbing guys to do a show with them, they are teaching talent and trying to make them better, which is what it is all about for me. Is there opportunity for cross-promotional events? Absolutely, with the right things. It’s a blank slate and I’m open to just about anything if the right situation shows itself.”

However, it might not be such an easy concept. Omega once tried to get something together with New Day in a cross promotional idea, but the idea fell through due to various reasons. Here are Omega’s comments on the New Day idea via an interview with Sportskeeda from January of this year:

“We really wanted to do something with a New Day, who was — at that time — they were sort of the hottest trio in all professional wrestling. And not only that, we were friends with the guys. So, we had really thought it’d be cool to go up and above everyone’s heads and make the appeal that we wanted to make this match happen. I’d sort of been discouraged of ever trying to create a cross-promotional match. The New Day angle fell flat on its face. I just sort of thought that from here on in, trying to even challenge WWE guys, if there was no pay-off, there’s no reason for it. It would’ve been dumb.”

It’s a little different, but New Japan has worked with major American promotions before.

Opinion: You know, this is one of those things that sounds ridiculous at first but how many things would you have said that about that you wind up seeing? Women have main evented multiple pay per views, Daniel Bryan is back in the ring, Impact Wrestling is now occasionally appearing in WWE and AJ Styles has been WWE Champion for six months. Is it really that insane to imagine a WWE and New Japan crossover show? I don’t think it would be any kind of blow away night but just the idea of seeing the thing in the first place would be insane.
