Almost two weeks ago, it was reported that Alicia Fox was expected to be backstage during a few Raw live events. Nothing was reported about her being used during those shows or her injury status, but the expectation was that the former Divas Champion is about to return to the ring. Recently, a new update has come to light about her future.

According to a new report from PWInsider, Fox was backstage during Raw this week but she obviously wasn’t used on television. More importantly, there’s some speculation about Alicia leaving the company once her contract expires. The exact date that’s going to happen isn’t known, but the rumor is it will be sometime before the end of the year.

Alicia Fox is one of the most experienced performers on the roster and has been with the company for a long time. However, she’s been used as an enhancement talent for the women’s division since the mid 00’s. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s a quality role for the company, but a lot of people believe she could do a lot more in the industry.

There’s no questioning her skills and experience. The bigger issue is that it would be a challenge to name a great match where she’s been featured as a bigger star. Outside of WWE, she could have a lot of opportunities to change her perception by working with a new roster. For instance, Fox could do extremely well in New Japan or Ring of Honor.

Of course, she’s been good to WWE and it’s likely the company will offer her a good deal to stay. For every Cody Rhodes, there’s a Dolph Ziggler who is willing to remain with the company. That’s not a bad thing and we don’t know all the logistics behind the scenes to make the call for them. Alicia Fox might be willing to make a big move at the end of the year. She may be comfortable ending her career with WWE. The point is she has choices.

Do you believe Alicia Fox would be successful outside of WWE?
