It’s still a small list. There are a lot of women in WWE today and the division has grown by leaps and bounds in just a few years. That growth continues and some of the talent is among the best in the world. One of the talented performers is Sonya Deville, who was signed to WWE as the first openly lesbian wrestler in the company. That number grew this week.

The Women’s Revolution may have officially began when Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Sasha Banks made their main roster debuts on July 13, 2015 but it really got started down in NXT. That was the first place where WWE featured women’s wrestling as a serious event and things began to spread from there. It has become one of the most important things in all of NXT and now one of its wrestlers has done something else that is rather important.

Earlier this month, NXT wrestler Tegan Nox made a post to Instagram, confirming that she was a lesbian and in a relationship with a woman. This marked the first time that she had confirmed her orientation, which she then confirmed in an interview with Newsweek. Nox said that 99% of the reactions backstage from WWE have been positive and that Deville had been a big help in making the decision.

Nox had one of her biggest matches to date this week. Check out her Women’s Title shot:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that you don’t see all the time in wrestling and it is great to see Nox feeling comfortable enough to make such a move. It says a lot that the division has come along enough to let something like this happen more frequently. It seems that things are moving forward in a big way and that is a lot better than having people needing to worry about who knows what.

What did you think of Nox’s title shot? Will she ever be Women’s Champion? Let us know in the comments below.
