It’s one way to go. Survivor Series is taking place later this weekend and it could be a heck of a night. The show is built around the Battle For Brand Supremacy, as has been the case for the last several years now. That often includes a series of matches between the champions from Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, though one of the matches might be a little surprising.
Monday Night Raw and SmackDown are separate brands but they are very similar in a lot of ways, including their title structures. This includes having a World Title, a Women’s Title, Tag Team Titles and a midcard title. The midcard titles have been around for a very long time now and every now and then we get to see the two champions vying for some bragging rights. That will be the case again at Survivor Series, but it might go in a unique way.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the Survivor Series match between SmackDown’s Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn and Monday Night Raw’s United States Champion Bobby Lashley will be a squash with Lashley winning. There is no word on why WWE will be booking the match this way. Both Lashley and Zayn have exchanged words about why their particular title is better leading into the match.
The two of them have been on a roll as of late. Check out what they have been doing on the way to Survivor Series:
Opinion: I’m not sure what to think of this and I’m not sure why WWE feels the need to do it. Maybe the idea is to speed things along, but at the end of the day I can’t think of any real reason to have a champion, even a champion like Zayn, get squashed. How that helps either the title, SmackDown, or anyone but Lashley isn’t exactly clear and that’s not the best thing to see taking place.
What do you think of the idea? How would you book the match? Let us know in the comments below.
