Something had to be done. Later this month, WWE will be presenting its annual Extreme Rules pay per view event. The show’s name tells you everything you need to know about the event, which is built around violent and more hardcore matches. However, with five matches set for the show, no gimmicks had been added to the card. That was somewhat remedied this week.
On Monday, WWE.com announced that the Extreme Rules mixed tag match between Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin vs. Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins will now be an Extreme Rules match. The match will see both Lynch’s Raw Women’s Title and Rollins’ Universal Title on the line in a winners take all match. This is the first gimmick match announced for the July 14 card.
They started last week. Check out the brawl that set up the match:
Opinion: I mean, they had to change something about the show, even though this isn’t exactly the most thrilling match in the world either way. The fans just are not interested in Corbin in this role and everyone but WWE seems to understand that. Making the match an Extreme Rules match doesn’t change the problem with the story and no gimmick is going to fix things.
