Sounds like war to me. The level of competition in wrestling has gone through the roof in recent weeks with AEW becoming the hottest promotion in the world, at least for the time being. Couple that with various already established companies and it means things are getting interesting again. That includes competing for fan attention, which will be the case on a certain day.
This past Saturday, WWE announced the second NXT UK Takeover event for August 31. This is the same day as All Out and a New Japan show in London. According to the Super J Cast, WWE decided on having the show in the UK on this date due to information from a spy in the ticket office of the Copper Box where the New Japan event is taking place. WWE was told that only 2,000 tickets were being sold without knowing that New Japan was using a second ticket agency as well, who had sold another 5,000 tickets. Therefore, WWE will be facing far more competition than initially expected.
Per our UK sources, WWE had a spy in one of the ticket agencies (mandated by Copper Box) NJPW were using for Royal Quest. Saw that NJ had only sold 2000 tickets but didn’t realise they had a 2nd ticket agency, and that total sales were 5000+. (1/3)

WWE thought sales were bad, saw money on the table, didn’t do the research on competing events (e.g. the rugby match) and rushed in (circa March). (2/3)

Now WWE are facing a situation with twice as many wrestling fans as they thought already committed to going to Royal Quest, and hugely inflated Cardiff hotel costs due to the Wales v Ireland World Cup warm-up rugby game (at least £100 per night). (3/3)

The show is coming back to the UK. Check out the announcement of Takeover: Cardiff:
Opinion: This is suddenly the busiest wrestling day outside of Wrestlemania weekend in a very long time. The good thing is that due to the time difference, fans can watch NXT UK and All Out without much of an effort, though it’s going to be a long day. Under the right circumstances though, this could be quite a day of wrestling and the first time in a good while that a Takeover won’t be the best wrestling of the weekend.
