RUMOR: Drew McIntyre’s Future With WWE

The future is now. Earlier this year, WWE ran WrestleMania 36 in front of no fans at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. That certainly made for the most unique major wrestling show perhaps of all time, but it didn’t mean that WrestleMania was any less important of a show. A lot of things happened there and it turns out that one of them might have been a game changer.

The main event of WrestleMania 36 saw Drew McIntyre defeat Brock Lesnar to become the new WWE Champion. That is a heck of a milestone as not a lot of wrestlers get to win their first WWE World Title in the main event of the biggest show of the year. McIntyre dethroned Lesnar and became the new top star, but what does it mean for his future? We might already have an answer.

WrestleTalk is reporting that both Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman see McIntyre as a main eventer for a long time to come and there is no reason to believe his title reign will be a one off. McIntyre is not part of the same group as Finn Balor, Kofi Kingston or Jinder Mahal, all of whom are former World Champions who have yet to return to such a level. There is no word on how long McIntyre is planned to hold the title.

Opinion: Works for me. I’ve been a big McIntyre fan for a long time now and I would be very happy to see him at or near the top of the company for a long time to come. He has the size, the look, the talking abilities and the in-ring talent. What more could you possibly need to make something work? WWE is seeing what a lot of fans have seen for a long time now and that is a very good thing.
