Rey Mysterio’s WWE Contract Expiring Pretty Soon

Enjoy him while you can. There are a lot of names in WWE but there are only a few who can be qualified as legends. Some of the biggest names that WWE has ever seen are still around today and that makes for special moments around the various television shows. You never know when you might see some of these legends again and one of the top stars WWE has ever seen may be running out of time with the company.

There are some stars who are recognizable for one specific thing, but in one particular case, it is the fact that something is almost always different. Rey Mysterio’s name translates to King of Mystery, which fits into his theme of having so many masks. Even his Titantron video is a rapid fire look at the masks he has worn over the years. They hide his face well, but you might not have much mystery left for the time being.

According to Fightful.com, Mysterio’s current WWE contract expires in October, though he also has an out clause that could allow him to leave the company earlier should he choose. There is currently no word on whether Mysterio will re-sign with the company or if they are interested in keeping him around. Mysterio is currently scheduled to compete in the Money in the Bank ladder match on May 10.

Opinion: Mysterio really is one of the biggest stars in the history of wrestling and WWE can benefit from having him around. That being said, I’m not sure how much longer he is going to be in the ring. WWE knows this and is probably smart enough to have plans ready for Mysterio’s retirement. That could be a top level story for WWE and if they play it right, they could make a good bit of money off of the situation.
