It’s a physical sport. Wrestling is one of the most violent sports that you are going to find anywhere and that is always going to be the case. No matter how skilled you are in the ring, there is no way for a wrestler to be completely safe. At some point someone is going to get hurt for one reason or another and that was the case during a particularly physical match.
The main event of last weekend’s NXT: Takeover 31 saw Finn Balor defending the NXT Championship against Kyle O’Reilly in a match that was promoted as a near dream match. Both wrestlers were known for their hard strikes and ability to do almost whatever they wanted in the ring. The match was an instant classic and Balor left with the title, but he had a rather nasty souvenir.
In a new post on Twitter, Balor revealed that he suffered a broken jaw in the title match, with the bone actually being broken in two places. The tweet includes an x-ray of Balor’s broken jaw. There was no indication that he would be forced to drop the title as Balor referred to himself as “still the champion”. Balor won the title by defeating Adam Cole after the title was vacated after the previous champion, Karrion Kross, was forced to vacate the championship due to injury.

Still the CHAMPION.

It was a heck of a match. Check out how Balor retained the title:
Opinion: That’s a rather nasty looking injury and I can’t say I’m overly surprised given how hard the two of them were hitting each other. You can only get away with so many hard shots to the face and that is the kind of thing you can’t get away from. I’m not sure what this is going to mean for Balor, but after defending the title, he could take a little time off if he needs the chance to heal.
What did you think of the match? Who will take the title from Balor? Let us know in the comments below.
