That’s a big one. WWE presents a lot of television throughout the year and after awhile, the shows can start to run together. There are only so many ways that you can present a wrestling show before things can start to get stale, but every now and then WWE can put something together which really works. That seems to be what they are going to try for next week.
Next Friday, WWE is airing the first half of the 2020 Draft, which will see wrestlers moved to and from Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, which might also include NXT. The Draft will continue on Monday Night Raw, but there are going to be some big things taking place in addition to just the Draft, as WWE has announced a pretty stacked card for the entire evening.
This week on SmackDown, WWE announced several matches for next week, including a title match. In addition to the first half of the WWE Draft, the following was announced for the show:
• Bayley vs. Sasha Banks for Bayley’s SmackDown Women’s Title
• Sheamus vs. Big E. in a Falls Count Anywhere Match
• Kevin Owens vs. The Fiend
• Otis Represents Himself In Court
Each match received a bit of build, with Banks announcing that the match will be taking place without any buildup, Big E. saying he needed to face Sheamus before the Draft possibly split them up, and the Fiend attacking Owens as he interviewed Alexa Bliss on the Kevin Owens Show. The match will be the Fiend’s first match which takes place on regular television.
It was a big build. Check out how we got here:
Opinion: Sometimes you need to throw out a show like this and that’s what WWE is doing in a very big way. The show has the potential to be absolutely stacked, but WWE also has a tendency to find a back way out of one or more of their matches. Something will go through though and we should be in for something good, as it’s hard to imagine all four things going badly.
