And so it’s official. Last week’s Raw Legends was a packed show which had some hit and miss results. At the end of the day, WWE did not have time to do everything that they were wanting and there were several different names who were not even on the show despite being announced. There was one name who did appear on the show as a surprise though, and you’ll be seeing him again.
The big surprise at the end of last week’s Raw Legends was the return of former World Champion Goldberg, who appeared to confront Drew McIntyre. The two squared off in the ring, with Goldberg accusing McIntyre of disrespecting the legends. That did not make a ton of sense as McIntyre had not said anything, but Goldberg challenging McIntyre for the Royal Rumble was very clear. All we needed was an answer.
This week on Monday Night Raw, McIntyre accepted Goldberg’s challenge for a title match at the Royal Rumble. The challenge was accepted via video, as McIntyre was under a Coronavirus quarantine after recently being diagnosed. This will be the first match between the two and Goldberg’s first match since WrestleMania 36, when he lost the Universal Title to Braun Strowman.
Opinion: It was hardly a surprise as you don’t see a challenge in WWE without it being accepted. Goldberg does not exactly feel like a thrilling challenger, but it is taking place at the Royal Rumble, which tends to have a lot of one off challengers for the World Title. Hopefully that is the case again, because Goldberg taking the title from McIntyre is not all that appealing.
