He’s kind of a big deal. Vince McMahon is the ultimate power in professional wrestling and has been for decades. There is no one in the industry who can make or break a career as fast as he can and that makes his opinion as important as any individual person in all of wrestling. That can be a good or bad thing, but there is no denying his influence. But what if he’s not there?

WWE has been in a weird place for several months now as the Coronavirus pandemic has taken away their ability to travel for television. That makes for some strange moments but at the end of the day, the product is going to be similar for the television audience. This includes their time in the Thunder Dome, though last week’s SmackDown was different in a rather specific way.

According to PWInsider.com, McMahon was not in attendance at last week’s SmackDown. This was the first time that he had not been present at a show taking place in the Thunder Dome. Bruce Prichard ran the show in his absence, though it is not clear how much influence McMahon had on the show. There is no word on why McMahon was not at the taping but he was back to run this week’s Monday Night Raw.

SmackDown worked fairly well on its own. Check out what they did without McMahon in attendance:

Opinion: It’s almost weird to imagine McMahon not being around for a show, but at some point it is going to be the case for all of them. That is going to be the biggest turning point WWE has ever had and I’m not sure what it is going to mean. Either way, this week’s show wasn’t too bad, but you can imagine McMahon had some kind of influence over everything, whether he was there or not.
