He has other uses. Earlier this week, Paul Heyman was fired as Executive Director of Monday Night Raw. This was a heck of a shakeup for the show as Heyman had been in charge of the show for about a year at this point. Now though, all control that he had over the show is gone, but all of his influence might not be if WWE agrees to let him continue doing something important.
Heyman may not have had the greatest success at running the whole show, but he certainly has had success on Monday Night Raw. One of his biggest talents is helping wrestlers with their promos and vignettes, as he has a talent for developing characters. That is the kind of thing that can be very valuable to a wrestling promotion and WWE may be continuing to understand that about Heyman.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Heyman may be kept around to help with vignettes and promos, similar to what he did before being named Executive Director. When he was fired from the position, WWE stated that he would be focusing on his on-camera persona. It is not clear if that means he will have a job backstage or not. Heyman has helped several wrestlers with their character work in recent years.
Heyman can do a lot with promos. Check out some of his better efforts:
Opinion: Hopefully WWE is smart enough to keep Heyman around in his former role. It is the kind of thing that Heyman can do as well as anyone else today and several wrestlers have gained success from working with him. It would be a great thing to keep him around, but you never can tell with WWE. I wouldn’t be shocked to leave him as just Brock Lesnar’s mouthpiece, which would be quite the waste of talent.
